Endorser on Recruitment Requisition: Departments should list the Divisional HR Manager (currently—Bunnie Jacquay) on job requisitions so he/she can provide feedback on underutilization.
External Recruitment: The Dean's Office may provide funding to allow departments to conduct a broader search in order to attract a more diverse applicant pool.
Division of Social Sciences Salary Approval for Staff Hires: All Selection Reports must be routed through the Dean.s Office for endorsement prior to submission to Central HR. To help expedite requests and assure consistency please adhere to the following:
1) Complete Selection Report
2) Route to Dean's Office for Endorsement. To expedite the process you should send a copy to Melody Chiles via email (mcchiles@ucsd.edu). The hard copy should be sent to the Dean's Office via campus mail (MC 0502)
The Dean's office will review and endorse the Selection Report and send to Central HR for final approval.
Once you have your successful hire, please send the name of your new employee to Bunnie Jacquay so she can add him/her to the appropriate listserve(s). We also send a welcome letter from the Dean to new staff employees.


New Hires: Dean’s Office has authority up to the mid-point; HR has authority above mid-point.
Upward Reclassification: Dean’s Office has complete authority.
Equity: Dean’s Office has authority up to the mid-point; SVCAA has authority above mid-point.
Lateral Reclass: Dean’s Office has authority up to the mid-point; SVCAA has authority above mid-point.
Lateral Transfer: SVCAA has authority.
