GLOBALIZATION: Economic, Social & Political Impact
In this course, we will overview national responses to the current global economic and legal program. More particularly, we will examine how they have affected black and indigenous populations in Latin America. We will privilege the effects of neoliberal policies - constitutional reforms, liberalization of the markets, etc - upon four Latin American countries' (Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Bolivia) political-economic and political-symbolic landscapes. This will allow us to explore the relationship between recent rearrangements of the global stage and the reconfiguration of racial subaltern and economic dispossessed subjects vis-a-vis this reconfiguration of the nation-state's legal and economic structures.
